So, that "big family event" I mentioned we were going to? Oh, well that was just a little shindig called, "MY MOMMY GOT MARRIED!!!!!!!" (to a very nice man named Bob).
Many of you know that my father passed away in 1984, so my dear Mommy had been single for a long time. Back in January, some friends who also work in the Temple introduced Mom and Bob (also a Temple worker, also widowed) because they thought these two would make a good couple. They were right!
After 6 months and one week of dating, Bob proposed to Mom on her birthday and she said yes. And for some reason, these two young'uns thought they were "too old" for a long engagement (but remember, Mom, you've still got a way to go before you hit 75!) so they married in Nauvoo on the 16th! Daddy-O, Kiddo and I were honored to attend their special day.
So now I have 6 new stepsisters and 16 more nieces and nephews (with another on the way) in the family. Everyone is very nice, and the weather couldn't have been any more lovely. Kiddo is gradually warming up to Bob, as he has been warned that now he will have to share his beloved Gobby. Imagine that! I could just kick myself for not getting a photo of how he squeezed himself between them for almost all of dinner! Amazingly, he also seemed totally at ease right away with all of his new aunties and cousins and he pretty much ignored me the whole time. He even felt free to attempt stealing Samantha's balloon!
But the best part of the day was definitely the beautiful smile on my mother's face. Congratulations to Mom and "Mr. Bob," with best wishes for many years of happiness together. You deserve it!

We were also in Nauvoo on the 16th!! We took our Youth to the Temple, and to see some sites. Too bad we didn't bump into each other. I would have loved to at least say hi and get a glimpse of your little Kiddo!

Thanks for sharing the pics. How wonderful to see that big smile on your mom's face. You never know when something special may sneak up on you and tap you on the shoulder - I'm glad she was ready for it.
